I can’t really explain why, but ever since I was a little boy I liked games where you control a spaceship and you fly around shooting enemies out of the sky. When I came across the TLK Games-developed Power Manga I instantly took a liking to the game.

The goal of the game is quite simple. You control a space ship; when the bad guys appear on the screen, destroy them or they will destroy you. Collect the powerups to improve your weapon and have a better chance to fend off your opponents.

Just to put things in perspective, you get to go through 42 levels in the game, confront more than 200 sprites, and fight off some 14 guards.

Here’s the story behind the game: “After a peace treaty about free interplanetary circulation that was concluded 150 years ago, the whole space has been turned into a giant floating trash. Meteorites deviated from their trajectories and with wild pirates, each of them representing a deadly danger for the peaceful navigators infest the space. That is the reason why the Governors of the Sidereal Spaces have created this Special Fast Intervention Patrol with the mission to clear the ways of these nuisances to improve the safety of the voyagers. This elite unit has been named POWERMANGA.”

Gameplay – You have to fly around and destroy your enemies; there's a boss at the end of each level. I find the game quite fun – a perfect choice for those times when you feel like taking a break. You can play Power Manga free of charge for as long as you want (the application is freeware).
